ALLINGHAM, DOROTHY ELIZABETH passed away suddenly but peacefully on January 27, 2005 in Kelowna, B.C. with her family at her side. She was born January 6, 1920 on the family farm in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba. Survived by her brother Ted (Muriel) Batters, her children Ted & Brenda, Jack & Rosie and Janette & Doug Clark, grandchildren Nicole (Neil), Drew (Ashley), Adria (Craig), Brett (Robin), Adam, Courtney (Paul), Kira, Kyle and Reece, great-granddaughter Ariel and extended family & friends. Predeceased by her husband Neville, and brothers Loyall, Everett, Perry, and Maurice. Dorothy taught school in Manitoba for five years before venturing west in 1944. Oyama became her home for the next 60 years. She enjoyed raising her children, substitute teaching, helping with the harvest and sewing for the needy. Dorothy’s pride and joy was her garden where she spent many long hours. Dorothy was a long-standing member of the Kalamalka Women’s Institute and the United Church in Oyama and Winfield as well as the Lake Country Garden Club. She also loved to travel, being a part of the church choir, and Tai Chi. Many will miss her generosity, passion, and keen wit as well as her love for family and friends. A celebration of her life will be held on Friday February 4, 2005 at 11:00 am at the Winfield United Church, 3751 Woodsdale Road, Winfield.
