Doreen Mutz, born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on February 16, 1931, peacefully passed away on April 18, 2024, at the age of 93.
She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
Doreen is survived by her two brothers, Paul Nelson (Marian) and Byron Nelson (Dianne), her two sons, Mark Mutz (Susan), and Paul Mutz (Mireille), three grandchildren, Erin Lee (Rob), Shannon Richardson and Jean-Sebastien Mutz (Tina) and four great-grandchildren, Peirce, Max, Logan and Lexa.
Doreen spent her formative years in Wadena, Saskatchewan, where she grew up on a farm alongside three sisters and five brothers. Later, she moved to Prince George with her sister Betty, where she pursued a career as a nurse at the local hospital. It was there that she met and married Walter Mutz, with whom she raised twin boys.
In 1994, Doreen relocated to Ladysmith, British Columbia, where she spent the last 30 years of her life. Doreen was known for her strong work ethic, hospitality, and ability to make friends wherever she went.
She will be dearly missed by her friends and relatives. A memorial service will be held on June 8, 2024, at 1:30 pm.
