August 19, 1940 – June 2, 2021
It is with great sadness that I am announcing that Donna Reeves passed away on June 2, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer. A battle she could not win. She passed away surrounded by her three sons and family.
Her father was Kenneth Ripley Munro and her mother was Mary Julia McGarrell Munroe. She is survived by her brother Kenneth Ripley Monroe (Patricia) and her two nieces, Shelly Eaton and Kristine Vandenberg, all of St. Thomas Ont.
She also leaves behind three fine sons – Stephen William Barnier (Melynda) of Surrey, Richard Mark Barnier (Shannon) of Victoria, and Timothy Clark Barnier of Surrey.
On June 27th 1981, she married Robert Charles Reeves, adding my precious son, Kurtis Lee Reeves (Gerry) of Vancouver and Deborah Ann Reeves of Tofino.
She is also survived by three granddaughters, Jennifer Barnier of Surrey, Hilary Barnier of Edmonton and Kayla Barnier of Whitehorse. Four grandsons, Jamie, Chad, Noah and Cole. Three great grandsons, Ryley, Levi and Landon Barnier.
Donna spent 50 plus years as a hairdresser and had a love of animals, especially black poodles. She had three poodles during her lifetime – Angel, Sammy and Pepi. Some of her favourite things to do was to walk the beach and collect shells, rocks and driftwood.
When we lived at Francois Lake she loved to feed and watch the deer that would congregate on the front lawn, sometimes 30 at a time. She always wanted to see what was beyond the bend, and over the next hill. She enjoyed nature programs on TV, mysteries and Star Trek.
She is and will be greatly missed by her husband Robert. One of her biggest desires was to make our 40th wedding anniversary on June 27th, but fell short by a few days. I am thankful for the life that we shared and the adventures we had. She was cremated as per her wishes and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Palliative Care Unit of Nanaimo Regional General Hospital who were so supportive, caring and dedicated to her care in her last days. They are very special people, doing an incredible job.
