December 21, 1938 - January 10, 2022
In loving memory ~
Donna (née Kinnie) died peacefully in the Comox Valley Regional Hospital, surrounded by her immediate family on January 10, 2022, after a brief illness. Donna was pre-deceased by her mother and father, Helen and Harry Kinnie and is survived by her husband James, her brother David and her two sons, Geo rey (Elaine) and Tristan (Jill). She had ve grandchildren; Trista, James, Kevin, Aiden and Kira.
Donna was born in Saskatoon on 21 December, 1938 and went to primary and secondary school there. She graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a M.A. in the eld of genetics. She subsequently worked as a teaching assistant and laboratory demonstrator at the university.
She was unlucky enough to have caught polio when a young girl and the disease both weakened her and limited what she could do. But, she did not let that hinder her and, with great determination, she led a full and adventurous life. She was an early feminist when feminism was hardly spoken of and she was greatly interested in Canadian Federal and Provincial politics.
She never said a bad word about anyone and only saw the best in those she met. I (her husband) have been trying to nd the words to describe her and the single word which describes her best is 'nice'; she was just so nice!
She was loved and admired by all who knew her and she was my best friend. She will be greatly missed.
For those who wish to honour her with a donation, she was a supporter of the Canadian Cancer Society and the Canadian Red Cross.
