Donald F. C. Jones, 97, died Monday, August 14, at 8:30 p.m. at Chilliwack General Hospital.
Don was born in Wales, on October 22, 1925, to May Primrose and Matthew John Jones. He was also predeceased by his sister Barbara Tulloch, and his previous wives Margaret and Joan. He is survived by his wife Pat, his sister Yvonne Hiebert and her daughter Sandra Hiebert, his three children Richard Jones (Patricia), Colleen Jones (Garth), Celia Jepson, his nieces Suzanne Gratton and Patty Brousseau and her family, a number of cousins in England, Wales, and New Zealand, as well as his grandchildren James (Rebecca), Colleen, Ryan, and Wesley, and a number of great-grandchildren.
Don served in the RCMP and the BC Police and was thought to be the last surviving member of that organization before it became the RCMP. He was a real estate broker for a large part of his life. With his wife Pat, they owned and ran the premiere waterslide in Vernon, Atlantis Waterslides. Upon their retirement, they returned to Chilliwack and made their home in Edenbank. He was an active member of PROBUS, as well as the RCMP vets.
He had a long and active life and he will be missed by his many friends. May he rest in peace.
There will be a Celebration of Life at the Edenbank Clubhouse, 7001 Eden Dr, from 2 – 4 p.m., on Friday, August 25. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
