November 16, 1935 - November 7, 2024
In loving memory ~
Dolores Eaton left us for Heaven on November 7, just shy of her 89th birthday.
She was born in Empress, Alberta, on November 16, 1935 to Michael and Magdalina Buckaway and was the second of five sisters. The family moved to Regina and it was there that she met and married her sweetheart John.
After his graduation (1963) from University, John, Dolly (Dolores) and their new baby, Joy, made their way to B.C. where they settled in Castlegar. Castlegar became home and is where the family grew to include Doug, Marilou and Shelli. Mom was a homemaker and everyone felt loved and included. Our friends were always welcome and Sunday lunch usually saw church family join us. Whether it was a roast beef meal or grilled cheese sandwiches, hospitality is what mom did so well.
After the kids left home, Dolores took up golfing. She and John had many years of traveling, cruising with friends and getting to love their grandchildren.
Mom will be greatly missed by dad since this is their first time apart in 64 years. She is pre-deceased by her parents, sisters Jeannette Lawrence and Margaret Smith and son-in-law James Ricard. She leaves behind her sisters Virginia Laube and Shirley MacCauley, children Joy (Brian) Zaporozan, Doug (Donna) Eaton, Marilou (Steve) Smith and Shelli Ricard, grandchildren Christy (Thomas), Alexa (David), Andy (Megan), Ashley (Christopher), Keegan, Jonathan, Ryker (Mikaela), Katie (Jess), Eric, Aime, Liam, Vienna, Asher and two great-grandchildren Alyvia and Oliver.
A memorial will be held on Saturday November 30 at 11:00 AM at the Castlegar New Life Church, 602 7th Street.
