Dennis Vicary Hill

November 16, 2021
On November 16, 2021, Dennis passed away peacefully, surrounded by his wife and daughters at the UAH Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta.
He was predeceased by his father, Charles; and mother, Aimee; and sister Marilyn. Dennis will be lovingly remembered by his wife Jeanne; daughters Julia (Drew), Lynda (King), Debbie (Wayne), Kathy; his sister Shirley (Ray); grandchildren Joses (Suzie), Candice (Colin), Byron, Amy (Kaleb), Abbey (D├ívid), Aiden (Ashley), Ben; great-grandchildren Silas, Avery, Charlotte, Emilia, Ava, Jacob; nieces Bonnie (Marc), Cheryl (Rob); numerous in-laws, nieces, and nephews on Jeanne’s side, and many, many friends.
Dennis was a humble and kind soul whose love and fascination for nature was apparent with the scores of outdoor activities in which he participated. These included countless overnight backpacking, canoeing, and hiking adventures all over the world including a month-long trek on the Camino de Santiago in Spain. He was a loyal and dedicated husband and the most amazing dad to his four daughters. A day never went by where he didn’t make sure his kids were all hugged with big bear hugs and told how much they were loved. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy. Dennis’ sharp intellect was evident at an early age through his curiosity for knowledge and science. This continued with him completing his Bachelor of Science in Engineering Physics at the University of Saskatchewan as well as his Master’s in Business at Queens University. He became an officer in the Canadian Armed forces and even spent a couple of years being stationed in Soest, Germany. His career with IBM brought the family to Montreal and then Edmonton. He moved on to PCL and eventually started his own computer consulting business with two partners (Jim Banks and John Isaac). During his retirement years, he could be found helping many individuals with their computer issues. He also spent time volunteering with the Shuswap Search and Rescue and even worked as a German tour guide providing tours around British Columbia. His kindness is reflected in the evidence of the love and support that has been pouring out since the news of his passing.
The family is sincerely grateful to the staff of the ICU at the UAH Hospital. Their dedication and kindness to his care will not be forgotten.
