In Loving Memory ~
David Stephen McLean, passed away unexpectedly on December 11, 2022, of natural causes at his home in Nanaimo B.C. David was born on June 12, 1957, in Arcola Saskatchewan.
As the son of an itinerant minister, Rev. Ronald A. McLean, David spent his early childhood in Canada moving from Arcola to Midland, and then Hamilton, Ontario. In 1970, at age 13, David moved with his family to Morristown, New Jersey in the United States.
In 1979 David's family returned to Canada. David stayed in the U.S., joining his brother, Mark in Boston, Massachusetts. David moved back to Canada in 1995, settling in Nanaimo B.C. where he lived for the rest of his life. David loved the peaceful surroundings of Vancouver Island, and he spent many hours exploring its coastlines and its forests. Nature inspired his imagination, which he expressed in many ways, particularly through writing and poetry.
David was a kind and gentle man who loved people. He worked with seniors for many years at Paradise Isle Seniors Society in Nanaimo, B.C. and befriended all he cared for. David was loved dearly and will be greatly missed by his mother, Pauline McLean-Caspell, brother, Mark McLean (Lauri), sister, Sharon Jessen (Larry), and nephews, Erik Jessen, David Crawford (Candice), Kip Jessen, and many cousins and extended family members.
A graveside service will be held at Cedar Memorial Gardens in Cedar, B.C. on January 27, 2023, at 1 pm. Everyone is welcome.
A reception will follow the graveside service at Departure Bay Baptist Church.
