In loving memory ~
With heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of the most cherished mother, partner, daughter, sister, grandmother, and friend, Darlene.
Darlene was born in Lethbridge Alberta, shortly after her family moved from Denmark. Darlene was the youngest of four children. Predeceased by father, Sven. Survived by mother, Inge. Sister Anne-Marie (Luis). Brothers, Jan (Lene), Peter (Shelley), and Jorgen (Anette). Darlene and family moved from Alberta in 1966 to Victoria B.C., then settled in the Cowichan Valley in 1974. Darlene graduated from Cowichan Secondary in 1982. Darlene lived in the Cowichan Valley for the majority of her life. More recently in Shawnigan Lake for the past 12 years with partner Darren. Darlene worked in dentistry for over 25 years, you could always count on being greeted with the brightest smile.
The absolute lights of Darlene's life were her children. Darlene was the most amazing mom to son Bradley (daughter-in-law Christina), daughter Alison (son-in-law Prabh), and stepdaughter Taylor. She was the best Nana to granddaughter Aria. She loved watching her kids grow, she would always put them above all else. Darlene was devoted and proud to have the life she lived with Darren.
Darlene loved the outdoors. In her spare time you could always find her hiking a mountain, out for a run, or bike ride. She loved her annual vacations with Darren to Costa Rica, and summers spent on the lake. She always looked forward to finding new ways to explore the outdoors, with her newest joy of hunting and fishing with Darren. She loved laughter, a good glass of wine, and being surrounded by loved ones.
Forever in our hearts and on our minds.
"I love you more today than yesterday,
but not as much as tomorrow".
Please join us for a celebration of life.
