D'Arcy Christensen

It is with heartfelt sadness that we said goodnight to D'Arcy Christensen on April 17th for the last time.
D'Arcy was born to Andy and Dorothy Christensen in Ocean Falls, December 12, 1929, and raised in Bella Coola and Anahim Lake with his sisters, Loy and Geraldine. He spent grade 9 in Victoria and later returned to take a business course at Sprott Shaw College.
Darcy spent his life in Anahim where he raised his family and worked hard as a storekeeper and rancher. You could always be offered to flip double or nothing for your purchase at A.C.C. General store where "If we don't have it, you don't need it."
He was a member of BC Trappers Association, getting his pilot's license in order to fly groceries into the outskirts for customers and buy fur from trappers. "D'Arcy Christensen, The flying fur buyer."
At one time he was president of the Anahim Lake Community Association, involved in getting BC hydro and the airport into Anahim Lake. Part of the Anahim Stampede Association, a BC Coroner, Justice of the Peace, member of school district 27, built a laundromat with family and was politically involved.
When he retired and moved to Williams Lake where he and his partner and best friend Kris built a house together, he also wrote his book, Double or Nothing.
He loved to ride by horseback into the mountains and camp, he was game to downhill and cross-country ski, in younger years even ride a rangy cow at the stampede or barrel race with his favorite horse. There were also some exciting poker games in the area, from Williams Lake to Anahim. Vegas, Pendelton, and even a cruise or two caught his attention, allowing him to be on TV playing in a Vegas tournament.
D'Arcy was very family oriented and made sure we all got together. We had ski trips, mountain camping, hunting, poker, or a drive to see a place. He enjoyed these with his spouse Kris, his family Cary and Jim, Chuck and Natalie, Andrea, and his grandchildren Megan and Hamish, Sydney and Dan, Landon and Briar, Eric, Lauren and great granddaughter Navy.
D'Arcy also had some very close friends, many who have done this journey before him. We will miss his funny jokes, quick wit, compassion and love of life.

Life is too short to wake up in the morning with regrets. So, love the people who treat you right, forgive the ones who don't and believe that everything happens for a reason. If you get the chance, take it. If it changes your life, let it. Nobody said it would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.
