November 10, 1987 - April 20, 2024
In Loving Memory ~
It is with heavy hearts that we share that our beloved son Dan passed away on April 20, 2024. Dan was born November 10, 1987, in Duncan, B.C.
Growing up in Cowichan, Dan attended Queen Margaret's School from Kindergarten to Grade 7 and Brentwood College from Grades 8-12. He was a very smart child all through his life.
Following high school, Dan attended UVIC for Engineering. He found that subject was not for him, so he switched to Journalism, where he earned his bachelor's degree. Dan wrote many stories with such wonderful imagination. Although he did not publish his writing, he shared the stories with those close to him. His creativity was one of his many beautiful strengths.
Dan enjoyed his life, being naturally adventurous and curious. He spent a lot of time helping his father Douglas MacAlpine with family projects, as well as some travel and family functions. Dan and Douglas would go fishing at times, which Dan really enjoyed. Dan was a kind, gentle, quiet, and very intelligent man.
He lived in Victoria for the last 17 years and worked downtown. Recently going through some life changes, Dan spent the last several months living in Duncan, which his parents enjoyed as he was around much more. Dan was close to his brothers, Sam and Nick, and they often did things together as loving brothers.
Dan will be lovingly remembered by all. Dan was predeceased by grandparents Ian and Merlyn MacAlpine, and Opa Georg Woernle ll and sister Alicia.
Surviving him are his parents, Douglas (Lisa) MacAlpine and Michele (John) West, brother Sam (Paris), and so many aunts, uncles, cousins, and other family and friends.
The MacAlpine and West families thank the RCMP, Coast Guards, SAR Teams, USA County Sheriffs, Sands Funeral Services, and the many volunteers, family, and friends for all their efforts, help, and comfort in these trying times.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Edward's Church, 2085 Maple Bay Road in Duncan on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 10:30 am.
A Celebration of Life will take place at noon on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at Sahtlam Tree Farm 4901 Conifer Way in Duncan, B.C.
