Passed away in Parksville, BC April 24, 2024
Cornel arrived in Cranbrook in 1963. Part owner and the sales manager for CKEK radio in partnership with Lloyd Hoole he later transitioned to manager of the Tamarack Shopping Center.
He was three times Rotary Club President and led saving the clock tower; a "Gold Life Master" bridge player; a pilot, service with the local search and rescue; an active member of the A.C.T. and Cranbrook Community Theater.
In collaboration with Bud Abbott he worked to acquire the property known as the Studio Theater. He helped organize the Kootenay Troop drama team and was MC for the Sweetheart pageant for many years. Cornel leaves behind his three children Stephen, Drew (Gail and two children), Deneen (Lance, three children and four grandchildren); and ex-wives "Miggs" and Pat.
