December 29, 1957 - April 25, 2023
Forever in our thoughts, and always close to our hearts,
you will be missed every, single, day
After a fierce battle with cancer, Clarke left this world on April 25, 2023. Clarke was born in Winnipeg, moved to Victoria at a young age, where he called home for his childhood and adolescence. Clarke, and his siblings Darryl & Donalyn lost their parents at a very young age, and Clarke moved to Alberta for a short time, where he helped raise his little sister Donalyn. When he moved back to BC, he eventually met his best friend and life partner Kathy in Vancouver in 1989. They raised their 2 beautiful children, Jesse, and Alex, in Coquitlam, where family life was full. Clarke, with Kathy, finally landed back to where his heart was, on Vancouver Island in 2016.
Clarke easily shared his quick wit, smile, sense of humour, and strong personality with everyone he was with. Clarke mainly worked in commercial construction, and he viewed his family, his children, as his greatest achievement in life. Clarke loved the outdoors, the warmth of the sun, tending to his plants, gardening, enjoying the ocean, family vacations, camping, and fishing. He was a fantastic cook, valiantly "couch cooking" when he was not able to get to the stove to put together his tasty recipes. Clarke appreciated sports particularly baseball and golf. He enjoyed a good baseball game, had a natural talent for the sport, and always strived for that perfect round of golf.
Clarke is survived by his partner, Kathy O'Donnell, son Jesse, daughter Alexandria (Graham), sister Donalyn (Tom), and many nieces and nephews, Dan (Lyndsey), & Trevor to name but a few. He is predeceased by his mother, Betty, father, Donald, sister Sharon, brothers Darryl & Donny.
Many thanks to all the staff at Comox Valley Hospice for their incredibly compassionate care.
A gathering to celebrate Clarke's life will be held in Victoria June 17, 2023.
