Cass Lewis

November 15, 1955 – July 15, 2023
In loving memory ~
Cass was born Sara Cassie Davis to Murray and Nora G. (Betts) Davis in Calgary. She is greatly mourned by her three older sisters, Gail (Dave), Sherry and Mandy, and her nieces and nephews.
As Cass grew up in the small town of Pincher Creek, Alberta, she became known as one of the Davis girls, often the one that was the muddiest, with hair sticking straight up. When a swimming pool arrived in town, Cass and her sister Mandy lived there most days and took in swimming events all around southern Alberta with their adored coach Max Gibb.
When Cass was 11 years old, the family moved to Calgary, where there were new joys to be found such as ballet, theatre and music. Cass loved her ballet lessons and found herself a group of like-minded hippy kids with whom to share her teenage life.
After graduation from Henry Wisewood High School, Cass started work in the insurance field at 19 and never looked back. She had a long and satisfying professional career where she enjoyed the challenges and the special collegial friendships she made.
As an adult, Cass had a special relationship with her mother Betts and most Thursday evenings they could be found out to dinner and the theatre, with perhaps another sister or two in tow. They would share stimulating discussions about books, plays, films and politics. It gave them both great pleasure.
In 2001 Cass moved from Calgary to Duncan, BC, to be with her beloved, Denis Stubbs (d. 2021). They enjoyed regular winter-time trips to Hawaii as well as local theatre outings. Cass became an integral member of the Stubbs clan and will be missed by Rick (Jennifer), Karen (Brian) and Colleen (Sarah).
Please join us for a memorial tea to celebrate the life of Cass Lewis on September 16, from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Maple Bay Rowing Club, Duncan.
