In loving memory ~
It is with profound heartfelt sadness and that we announce the passing of Carmen Danielle Sharpe (née Boyce) on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at her home in Campbell River. Carmen was 37 years old and is survived by her devoted husband Colin, their daughters Mila Joy and Nova Pearl, her parents Lyle and Darlene Boyce, her brother Byron, in-laws Bill and Madelaine Sharpe, brother-in-law Mitchell, sister-in-law Samantha, and nephew Theodore, along with numerous extended family members and cherished friends.
Carmen was adopted, 22 days old, five years following the adoption of her brother, Byron. Byron now had the little sister who he asked to come soon on his fifth birthday. From the very beginning Carmen had a very determined focused personality, balanced beautifully with being loving and always happy, never thinking she was better than others but always focusing on having fun with whoever she was with, young and old alike. She loved dancing and singing and performing in her home at early age, always keeping family and friends entertained. Carmen graduated from Timberline Secondary School in 2004. Throughout those years she was active with piano lessons, voice lessons, gymnastics, and dance lessons. She went to gymnastics 24 hours per week with competitions on weekends. Her highlight was qualifying for the Western Canadian Gymnastics competition in Calgary in 1999 representing British Columbia, returning with two gold medals. One for individual performance on the balance beam and the other for the B.C. Team gold medal. Her passion, however, was for dance. Carmen loved the fellowship and family like atmosphere of the dance studio.
Carmen also engaged in theatre, performing in high school and community productions, which ultimately guided her towards post-secondary education. She attended the accredited Randolph Academy for the Performing Arts in Toronto from 2006 to 2008, a prestigious institution known for its comprehensive training in singing, dancing, and acting. While studying, she began her career at Moxies in Toronto. After completing her education at Randolph, she taught dance and gymnastics.
In 2012, Carmen relocated to Vancouver, where she worked as an assistant general manager at Moxies, first at the Guilford Mall and later at the downtown location near BC Place Stadium. In 2013, she returned to Campbell River to be closer to family and to teach dance at CR DanceXtreme. Carmen loved teaching dance and all the students she taught. It was during this time that she met the love of her life, Colin, and they were married in 2017 at Tigh-Na-Mara Resort in Parksville, BC, which became their cherished retreat.
Carmen was a vibrant, caring, and organized wife to Colin and a devoted loving mother to Mila Joy, born November 28, 2018, and Nova Pearl, born June 3, 2022. In 2023, she completed a certificate with honors in accounting clerk, intending to assist Colin with bookkeeping for his business. Balancing family life, her pregnancy with Nova, and her studies was a significant challenge that Carmen took on with determination.
The Sharpe and Boyce families, along with friends and the community, are immensely grateful for the support received during this difficult time. Carmen will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Tim Eckford and the compassionate staff who cared for Carmen during her two stays in 3A and 3B at Campbell River Hospital, as well as the team of seven first responders who attended to her at home.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 11:30 a.m., doors will open at 11:00 a.m., at the Tidemark Theatre in Campbell River, B.C. In lieu of flowers, we invite you to plant something pink in your garden, patio, or window boxes in memory of Carmen.
