December 1, 1955 - October 24, 2022
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our much loved son, brother, uncle and great uncle. Brian was pre-deceased by his father, Lyle Tillapaugh, and sister, Sandra Robertson. Left with cherished memories are his mother Jean Tillapaugh, brothers Don (Inger), Bruce (Elizabeth), Rick (Colleen), brother in-law Jim Robertson and numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family.
Born and raised in Victoria, BC, Brian moved to Nanaimo after high school, where he worked as a custodian for the Nanaimo school district for many years, until his retirement in 2020. He was an avid movie buff (with quite the dvd collection), enjoyed driving his cars, and playing cards, particularly when collecting all the nickels in games of 31. Brian was a worthy opponent at family card games and bean bag toss, and had a devious grin when he won. This was his happy place.
Brian had a big smile, big heart and was always willing to help where and when he could. He was very good company for Mom, particularly after Dad's passing, and the two of them enjoyed their times together. Brian had a willing chuckle and good-natured response to brotherly bantering/teasing and a knack for entertaining his young nieces and nephews. Everyone loved Uncle Brian.
Brian was most proud of BT BABY, his red 1991 Firebird, that put a big smile on his face on a hot summer day. Take the T-tops off and drive on, Brian! You will be missed and always in our hearts.
A social gathering to celebrate Brian's life will take place on Sat, Dec 3 from 1-3 pm at the Lantzville Legion #237 (7227 Lantzville Rd).
