Brian decided upon a career change and entered the University of Manitoba graduating with a Bachelor of Education degree. After teaching business education in Thompson, Manitoba for three years, Brian and Angie moved to Duncan where he taught for twenty seven years at Cowichan Secondary School. Brian not only enjoyed working with young people in the classroom, he devoted time to extracurricular activities. He had discovered golf when he was just twelve years old and among other sports he coached the school’s golf team for seventeen years, bringing home a provincial title.
Brian’s involvement with golf extended beyond school and he chaired the committee whose work resulted in the expansion of the Cowichan Golf and Country Club from nine to eighteen holes.
Brian was a passionate sports fan especially for the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Vancouver Canucks and was a spirited card player. He also claimed that he always had the cleanest car in the parking lot at the golf course.
