July 29, 1946 - July 20, 2024
Bonnie Anne Rothe, of South Surrey, BC, slipped away to heaven peacefully at Melville Hospice on July 20, 2024, at the age of 77, after a brave fight with cancer. Even as her body was failing, Bonnie continued to reach out to those around her as she always did, with genuine warmth and kindness, sharing that bright smile of hers we shall all miss so dearly.
Bonnie was born in Vancouver, BC on July 29, 1946 to John and Beverly Laudrum, the first of three children. She was predeceased by her parents, parents-in-law Walter and Joan Rothe, brother Ernie Laudrum, sister-in-law Margaret Rothe and brother-in-law Brian Biddlecombe. Bonnie is survived by her husband of 54 years and the love of her life, Hugh Rothe, daughter Eileen Hiebert (son-in-law Corwin and granddaughter Johanna), daughter Jennifer Halwachs (grandchildren Sophie, Todd and Ethan), sister Leanne Laudrum (Biddlecombe), brother-in-law Paul Rothe, as well as beloved niece, nephews and cousins.
Bonnie was completely devoted to her family, friends and her relationship with Jesus. She was very involved in her church and local community, leading various support groups and lending support one-on-one, adored working in her garden, and fell in love with quilting. But no matter what she was doing, Bonnie's first priority was always connecting with and caring for those around her.
We want to thank the staff at Integrated Health, Peace Arch Hospital, and especially Melville Hospice for the wonderful support and care they provided to Bonnie during her illness and the last few months of her life. Our family is so grateful for the love and kindness we experienced first-hand from health care workers who gave of themselves so selflessly.
A Celebration of Life will be held at White Rock Baptist Church on Saturday, August 17th at 11:00 am (reception to follow). If you're able, kindly RSVP using the following link:
