It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Bob (Robert) Kenneth Fatkin at age 69. Bob was a loved, admired, and respected pillar of the Abbotsford community. In his younger years, when not working hard on the family's daffodil farm, Bob could be found playing sports or his guitar or piano. Bob worked a full career at BC Tel/Telus and spent his off-hours pursuing his passion of flying...a passion he paid forward as a flight instructor later in life, and lives on in his son, Jeff who became a pilot himself.
Later, he took his teaching talents to the Abbotsford Curling Club where he coached Junior and Novice curlers. It was at the curling club where he met his soul mate, Diane, whom he later married. Bob courageously battled a rare form of prostate cancer over his last 18 months. Through it all he fought with strength & courage all while maintaining his inherently positive attitude and giving back through participation in a research study to find a cure for small-cell carcinoma of the prostate.
Bob will be lovingly and forever remembered by his wife Diane, son Jeff (Leah), brothers Bruce, Glen (Marina), stepsons Brendan, Connor, Liam, stepdaughter Mikayla, nieces Tara (Clifford-Winston, Maxwell), Megan (Tony-Addison, Colton, Callen), Michelle (Sean-Theo, Quinn) and Jennifer (Micah) as well as many extended relatives and countless friends. Bob was predeceased by his parents Leslie & Mary Fatkin.
The family would like to thank Drs. Ko, Keith & Zheng, the staff at Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre, and the Abbotsford Hospice Society-Holmberg House for their expert knowledge, skill, care and compassion.
A small private Celebration of Life will be held as per Bob's request.
A Tribute Memory Book is being created in Bob's honour.
