Bev was born and raised in Sardis and married Wilf Figgitt on May 11, 1948. Being a military wife was not easy. In the early 1950's Wilf was serving in the Korean War leaving Bev to raise their 3 young children. Following the war Bev went to work in the family business. "The Pop In
Cafe" was an institution in Vedder Crossing next to CFB Chilliwack. She was an excellent baker known for her delicious pies and butter tarts. She went on to work for Woolworths, the IGA and then Sears. Bev loved to serve and was as a member of the Chilliwack Hospital Auxiliary, the Lady Lions and the Ruth Rebekah's lodge. She was a member of St. John's Anglican Church.
After Wilfs passing Bev moved to Wellsbrook in Sardis where she had a group of close friendswho went on several trips together. She was involved in the social committee where she was organizing Halloween parties, Christmas Dinners, and Valentines.
As stated by one of her granddaughters "she was an extraordinary woman who loved whole heartedly, protected fiercely, gave generously, played heartily, and supported devotedly. She constantly demonstrated grit and resiliency".
Beverly was predeceased by her husband Wilfred, parents Frank and Hilda Gardhouse and sisters Shirley, Juanita and Bernice.
She is survived by her three children Linda (Jim) King, Karen (Jim) McCaughan, Bill (Marilyn) Figgitt and grandchildren Kathy, Kristy, Daniel, Jillian, Eddie, Julia, Tyler and Matthew, 13 great grandchildren as well as her sister Donna (Tom) Dever and many nieces and nephews.
