In Loving Memory ~
Our beloved mother, Beverley Ann Lang, nee Allan, passed away on March 4, 2023 in Vancouver, in her ninetieth year, after a long and fulfilling life. Bev was born and raised in Creston, BC, the daughter of Cecil and Jane Allan with her brother Cece.
Predeceased by her husband, Brennan, she leaves her children - Brenda (Tony), Jane (Peter), Brennan (Polly), Perry, and Justin (Nicole).
She was the grandmother of Elias, Kate, Sophie, Anna, Christian, Benjamin, Lea, Aiden and Aaron and the great-grandmother of Aria and Blakely.
She was the calm, quiet centre of our large, loud and opinionated family and yet was always up for a new adventure or spot of mischief.
She loved gardening, made the best apple pie in the world and could walk for miles. She never knew how to swim but faithfully acted as our lifeguard every summer on Kootenay Lake.
True to her Scottish heritage, she enjoyed a glass of Scotch in the evening. What a joy and privilege it was to know her and we are honoured to be her children.
Bev was also a nurse for many years in both Ontario and BC, finishing her professional life as a head nurse at Mount St. Joseph Hospital in Vancouver.
In 1991, she received an Award of Excellence in nursing practice from the RNABC. She was a strong advocate for both staff and patients and her fabulous retirement party was an expression of their appreciation.
During her retirement, she and our father travelled often to visit us all in succession throughout the year, as well as overseas. They belonged to the Stanley Park Lawn Bowling Club, enjoyed the opera and theatre, loved walking with their dog Humphrey on the beach and savoured their life in the West End to the full.
During the last decade, blind and deaf, Mom faced life with her usual dry humour, grace and stoic fortitude.
We are grateful to the residents and staff at Cavell Gardens who looked out for her during those years.
A private celebration of her life will be held at a later date but, if you would like to share a memory with the family, please email at perrylangcustom@gmail.com
