In Loving Memory ~
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Beryl Marget Jones (nee Groom). A beloved wife, mother, aunt, friend, sister, and cousin, she was greatly loved and will be profoundly missed by her children, Judy and Greg, her stepchildren Leslie (Stephanie) and David (Mary) and her grandchildren Taylor, Sean, Jordy, and Jeremy, and her many friends and extended family.
Known to many as “Goldie” she was lively and spirited, with a wicked sense of humour and a love of laughter, family, cooking, music, fashion, and finding a good bargain at the Sally Ann. She considered her shortbread and spaghetti and meatballs world-famous, and those who tasted them agreed.
Beryl hailed from Trail B.C., where she met and married the love of her life, Harold Jones. Together they explored the world, pursuing Harold’s international hockey career, and sharing countless holidays and travel with family and friends.
For many years they owned and operated a well-known restaurant in the Kootenays, where they were deeply appreciated by the community and made many memories. Harold passed in October 2022, gone ahead to prepare the way for his adored wife. Predeceased by her parents Ron and Doris, her sister Judy DeRosa, her stepmother Margaret, and her granddaughter Chikara, Beryl died peacefully in hospital in Surrey B.C.
In the words of her lifelong friend, Beda Martin (nee Holm), “All of us are saddened by this loss but also grateful for the presence of her bright spirit in our lives, and that will live on.”
