February 6, 1919 - March 10, 2022
On March 10, Barbara Bowles (nee Seal) of Nanaimo passed away peacefully after 103 years of a full and wonderful life. Barbara was predeceased by her devoted husband of 66 years, Russell. She will be dearly missed by her son Bill, grandchildren Christie and Steven, and many adoring nieces and nephews.
Raised in Balfour, BC, Barbara spent most of her married life in Kamloops before she and Russ retired to Nanaimo in 1980. She was an avid gardener, reader and seamstress, and an active member of Anglican Church Women. She will be remembered for her lovely smile, her generous nature, and cheerful attitude to life. In her later years she demonstrated her courage, determination and positive spirit as she dealt with macular degeneration.
A funeral service will be held at St. Paul's Anglican Church, Nanaimo, May 25 at 2 pm. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Fighting Blindness Canada.
