In Loving Memory ~
We are saddened to announce the passing of Joan Bailey on October 11, 2022
Joan was born in Grindrod, B.C., the eldest of 3 daughters to George and Kathy Halksworth. As young girls, Joan and her sisters worked in the General Store / Post Office in Grindrod. She grew up enjoying the life in the rural North Okanagan.
In 1951 she married the back lane neighbour, Bill Bailey. They moved to Vernon, and began to raise their family in the home on Stickle Road.
Joan enjoyed doing crafts, teaching Brazilian embroidery, gardening, and volunteering with various organizations.
After Bill passed in 2005, she remained in her home, tending her large garden, and enjoyed having the grandchildren visit and help with the crops.
She was predeceased by her husband Bill Bailey, and her sister Betty Honeyman of Enderby. She is survived by her sister, Lois Roberts of Enderby, son Charlie (Laura) of Chilliwack, son Jim (Marg) of Vernon, daughter Karen Ritchie (Jim - deceased) of Kimberley, daughter Margaret of Kimberley and son Mike (Brenda) of Penticton. Also left to mourn her passing are her 6 grandchildren, and 6 great grand children. We would like to thank the staff of the North Unit, Polson Place in Vernon for the excellent care given to Joan these past few years.
