January 23, 1922 - May 26, 2023
In loving memory ~
It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our Mom, a sweet and gentle soul.
Ava was born in Trail, B.C., on January 23, 1922, and passed peacefully away on May 26, 2023. At a young age, she moved back to Italy with her family. Growing up in Italy she met and married Angelo, where their first daughter was born. The small family immigrated back to Canada settling in Trail, then building their permanent home in Fruitvale, B.C.
Ava was predeceased by her husband Angelo, brothers, John and Angelo, sister Rene, parents Silvia and Angelo Mason, and grandson Darren.
Ava will be sadly missed by her daughters Diana and Irene (Don), son David (Diane), her nine grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Ava was a member of the Italo Canadese, Royal Canadian Legion and Beaver Valley Bowling League, attending the BC summer games. Tending a large vegetable garden and beautiful rose garden, Mom happily donated flowers to St. Rita's Catholic Church well into her nineties. Mom enjoyed cross-country skiing, bowling, gardening, knitting, crocheting, many vacation cruises and dancing at the Legion and Italo Canadese banquets. Most of all, Mom loved the large family dinner get-togethers where much laughter and fun was had by all. You will always live in our hearts. Love and miss you Mom, Grandmother, and Bisnonna.
Una bella Vita.
The family would like to thank Dr. C. Neil for the many years of care, homecare aids and Poplar Ridge for the kind, attentive care given to Mom during her stay.
As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital Health Foundation at 1200 Hospital Bench, Trail, B.C. V1R 4M1 or online at www.kbrhhealthfoundation.ca
