Arnold Wayne Schweitzer, went to be with his Lord, Monday, March 27, 2023, at age 85. He resided at Mountainview Village in Kelowna, B.C.
Arnold was born on April 27, 1937, to Roy and Beatrice Schweitzer, in Edmonton, Alberta. He was the eldest of nine children. He grew up on a farm in Keephills, Alberta, and enjoyed going back to that area to visit.
From the time Arnold was a young man, he enjoyed operating heavy equipment. A job he particularly loved was working as a Demag mining shovel operator for Westar Mining in Sparwood for several years. There he even trained other operators. He was very proud that his son, Bob worked there as well. He was a proud member of the International Union of Operating Engineers for over 50 years.
Arnold was an active member of Bethel Christian Center in Nelson, BC for many years. He enjoyed driving the bus to pick up kids for Sunday School and youth trips.
Some of his favorite pastimes were beekeeping, fishing, and snowmobiling. Arnold loved to travel and visit friends and family on his way to wherever he was going.
For 39 years Arnold lived in Blewett, a community just outside of Nelson B.C. There, he and his wife, Anne had a small hobby farm.
They sold eggs, honey, beef, and turkeys to many friends and neighbors. He also lived for a number of years in Golden, Salmo, and most recently, Kelowna.
Arnold was predeceased by his parents Roy and Beatrice Schweitzer, his brother Keith Schweitzer, his brother Norman Schweitzer, his sister Ruth Schweitzer, his second wife, Anne Schweitzer, and his third wife, Rose Bazak.
Arnold is survived by his ex-wife, Lil Harris, and his children; Bob (Alison) Schweitzer, Grant (Cindy) Schweitzer, Lorrina Paul, Anita (Andrew) Thompson, Eric Schweitzer, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Arnold is survived by his siblings Roland Schweitzer, Grayden Schweitzer, Lyle Schweitzer, Mavis Engler, and Glen Schweitzer, and many nieces and nephews.
A date for a memorial service is yet to be determined. Arnold will be interned at the Crawford Bay cemetery.
