It is with deeply saddened hearts that we announce the passing of our dear Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and friend Josie Hamilton, on April 15 2024 with loving family by her side.
Born August 24 1932 in Vancouver, Mom lived and worked there until moving to Rossland in 1963 with her late husband Lundy Hamilton.
Working at various accounting positions throughout her career Mom finally retired in 1988 as the Office Manager with the Ministry of Highways in Rossland.
In her free time, Mom enjoyed golfing, bingo, going to the casino, and attending her grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's school and sporting events. She also loved to knit and crochet and was an active vendor in local markets and fairs around the community.
Mom is now reunited with her husband Lundy, parents John and Florence Herstead, and brother Ray Herstead.
Mom is survived by her 5 children: Lauranne (Mike), Leslie, Christine, Jo Anne (Gary), and Lynda (Lorne); her 7 grandchildren Tara, Lindsay, Stephanie, Kelsey, Jennifer, Amanda, Ryan; and her 9 great-grandchildren Troy, Emma, Jaxxon, Elizabeth, MacGregor, Thomson, Abigail, Nash, Kromm.
Our dear mother will be terribly missed, and upon her request, there will be no service.
Mom's only wish was to be remembered in our hearts.
