October 5, 1925 - March 7, 2022
Our beloved Sister, Mom, Grandma, and Great-grandma was carried away peacefully on March 7th after a long, well-lived life. Anne was born in Blumenort, Saskatchewan, the eldest daughter of John and Elise Funk. The Funks moved to Elm Creek, Manitoba, where Anne left school after grade 8 to help her mother with the large family.
But she also volunteered for MCC in Washington DC, then completed high school and teaching training.
Anne and her husband Abe raised 4 daughters in Winnipeg, where she was very active in her church community and pursued her talents for singing, sewing, gardening, crafting, and Scrabble-playing. Above all, Anne was known for her gracious and caring hospitality, opening her home to extended family and those in need of friendship and shelter.
Moving to Abbotsford in 1991, Anne and Abe enjoyed their retirement community and their local grandchildren.
After Abe's death in 1999, Anne was able to travel more; her visits to Manitoba family and her Toronto grandkids were highlights.
She was proud also of her rediscovered athletic skills as a bowler and golfer. As Anne's health began to fail, she was well-supported by the staffs of Primrose Gardens and Terrace East, and finally, the Belvedere Care Centre, Coquitlam. We extend our heartfelt thanks to these compassionate caregivers.
Anne leaves behind daughters Betty (Christian), Ruth, Linda (Murray), and Kathie (Dave); 9 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson, 4 siblings, and 4 siblings-in-law.
She is predeceased by her husband Abe and 5 siblings and siblings-in-law. A celebration of life will be held at Central Heights MB Church in Abbotsford, 11 a.m. Monday, March 21; face masks mandatory.
Please see [W&J website] for live streaming details. Donations in Anne's memory may be made to Multiply, at multiply.net, or by mail to Multiply Canada, #300 - 32040 Downes Road, Abbotsford, BC V4X 1X5.
