In Loving Memory ~

It is with sadness that we share news of the passing of Anne Ball (née Paul) on Friday, April 5th.

All her children were at her side, in her home as she did so. Anne chose a beautiful spring morning to journey onward.

Anne had been declining physically over the past year when her health took a recent rapid change. She was loving to the end and gave friends and family special moments we will always cherish.

Born in Pouce Coupe, Anne grew up on a farm outside of Dawson Creek, before her family moved into the town when she was a young girl. After high school Anne headed to Vancouver to study library sciences at UBC, where she met her future husband Lorne. They lived in Sarnia, Ontario before moving to Edmonton where they started their family. Further moves took them to Castlegar twice and Cranbrook.

Anne was predeceased by her husband Lorne, her brothers Stew & Art and her parents Janet & Jack.

She leaves a large family that she loved dearly and was adored by in return: her children Derek & Mhairi, Geoff & Candice, Alex & Scott and Ken & Susan; her grandchildren Kahlila, Isabella, Sophia & Dylan, Duncan & Jaymee, Jordyn & Ben, Lilly, Max & Rose and Kara & Frank; and her greats Callahan, Griffin, Parker and Kennedy.

Likewise, Anne loved her wide circle of friends, those from her childhood in Dawson Creek, her years at UBC and in Vancouver, her many friends from Castlegar & Cranbrook and all the wonderful people who became part of her life on Vancouver Island.

Anne delighted in many things large and small. She could find joy in the first crocus of spring and in one more hand of cards with her friends. One of her fondest achievements was being selected as one of the Weston Girls, representing Dawson Creek, BC on the 1953 Coronation tour to Britain. The friendships she made on the tour lasted her lifetime.

A memorial service will be held Saturday May 25th, from 2-4pm, in her backyard in Parksville, among the flowers and birds that she loved so much. In lieu of flowers, should you wish, please donate to the Parksville SOS, Society of Organized Services - District 69.
