Anna Theresa Nikkel (Ochla)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Anna Theresa Nikkel (Ochla) on May 14, 2025, at the age of 77. She died peacefully at Chilliwack General Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Ann was born in Helsinborg, Sweden to parents Sylvester and Katarzna Ochla. Her family immigrated to Canada when she was a young child. They homesteaded in Peace River, Alberta before moving to Ocean Falls, BC. Her parents eventually bought a farm on Coghlan Rd in Aldergrove and then later on Bradner Rd. in Abbotsford where she met her future husband, Kenneth Daniel Nikkel.

After a short courtship, Ken and Ann were married on October 16, 1965, in St.Ann's Aldergrove Parish. They spent 59 incredible years together raising their two children Bryan and Christy.

Ann was an excellent homemaker, wife, and mother., She enjoyed being the host for many large family gatherings and events of all kinds. She was exceptionally social, and her home was always welcoming to friends and family. She loved to garden, making every property she touched alive with colour. Her favourite activities included bowling, curling, thrifting, and she always had a jigsaw puzzle on the go.

Ann was a devout Roman Catholic. As a teenager she was the church organist at St. Ann's Aldergrove and a member of the choir. Later on, she became an active member of the CWL and took on the role of president for many years.

Ann is survived by her loving husband Ken, her son Bryan (Jenn), daughter Christy, sister Zofia Capp (Ken) and grandchildren Katelynn, Sarah, Brody, Mia-Rayne, Ireland, Taylor and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral mass will be held on Saturday, June 14th at St.Joachim and Ann Catholic Parish, Aldergrove at 11:00am.
