In Loving Memory ~
It is with profound sadness that we announce that Andy, age 77, passed away peacefully in the hospital on September 16, 2023, with family by his side.
He was born on April 6, 1946, in Trail, B.C. Andy grew up in Warfield. Following his high school graduation from JL Crowe in 1965, he attended Selkirk College and the University of British Columbia. He spent a year studying at the University of Victoria where he met his future wife, Linda.
Andy and Linda were married on November 10, 1973, and began their life together first in Trail prior to building their home and moving to Rossland in 1975. They welcomed their sons Chris in March 1976, and Brian in March 1981.
Andy began his career as a firefighter with Cominco in 1971 and retired as a Captain in 2002, after 31 years with the department. He was also a founding member of Cominco's Emergency Response Team and travelled throughout North America on many calls. He loved being a first responder.
Andy is survived by his wife Linda, son Chris (and Jenn), son Brian (and Kyle) and his two wonderful grandchildren, Fergus and Aubrey. He loved his family, especially his grandkids.
He is also survived by his sister Didi (and Cal) of Surrey, his sister Doreen (and David) of Penticton, and brother-in-law Brian (and Christine) of Victoria. He leaves behind many nephews and nieces.
Andy loved the outdoors. He was a volunteer on the Red Mountain Ski Patrol for more than 30 years and following that a Snow Host for 10 years at Red Mountain Resort.
When his boys were young, he was a Beaver, Cub, and Scout leader for 10+ years. During his life, he spent many hours volunteering. He was president of the Rossland Museum, on the Rossland Public Library Board, and a volunteer on the Rossland Ambulance during his decades in the community.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Rossland Museum or the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital.
Clark's Funeral Service has been entrusted with arrangements.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Rossland Legion on Saturday, October 21, from 1-3 p.m.
