July 10, 1944 - February 14, 2022
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alice Murray Murdoch, our dear wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend on February 14, 2022 in Trail, BC.
Alice was born in Galston, Scotland on July 11, 1944. At the young age of 16 she met the love of her life, David, and they married on November 6, 1965. With dreams of living in Canada, Dave, Alice and their young daughter, Alison, immigrated in 1969. Soon after, their son David was born and they settled in Castlegar.
For many years Alice worked as a hairstylist and owned her own salon. Later, Alice dedicated her time to raising their wonderful children. After their kids were on their own, Alice took a role in working in their family business.
Alice loved nothing more than spending precious time with family and friends and she enjoyed celebrating every holiday. The time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the highlights of her days. They were well loved.
Over the years, Alice and Dave enjoyed many visits back to Scotland and vacations in Mexico with family and friends. Many enjoyable summers were spent in their home away from home at the Arrow Yacht Club on the Arrow Lakes where they developed great friendships.
Alice will always be remembered for her genuine kindness, zest for life, her great sense of humour, but mostly for the love she gave so easily to her precious family and friends.
Alice was predeceased by her parents, John and Alice, and brother John. She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, David, and her beloved children, Alison (Marcel) and David (Alana). Her grandchildren Victoria (Cody), Melissa (Mack), Eric, Sawyer (Tayler), Kendra and Tia brought great joy to her life. Great-grandchildren Jesse, Leigha, Nohlan, Jocelyn, Avary, Chase and Paisley were blessings too.
Alice is also survived by her brother Stephen (Anne), sister-in-law Elizabeth (Hugh), brother-in-law Billy and their families.
We would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses at the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital for the exceptional care they gave Alice and the kindness they showed towards our family.
If you so desire, donations may be made in Alice's memory to the BC Cancer Foundation, 150-686 W. Broadway, Vancouver, BC V5Z 1G1 or online at
We will always love and miss Alice and there is a part of our hearts that will feel the great blessing from having had her in our lives. Rest in Peace, Alice.
