In loving memory ~
It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Alex Erickson, who passed away on Monday, September 4th, 2023. He was predeceased by his wife Rosalee (March 11, 2021) of 64 years and his daughter Barb (June 8, 2003). He was survived by his daughter Pat and son Wayne as well as 9 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Alex was born on Stump Lake Homestead near Prince Albert, Saskatchewan where he lived and went to school. In his late teens, he moved to Salmon Arms and met the love of his life, Rosalee. After getting married and having their first child, Pat, they returned to the Cowichan Valley to raise their family. Eventually, they settled down in Chemainus and built the house of their dreams.
Alex continued his career as a logger in the logging industry. He would often say he was just making stumps. He loved being a logger but was forced into early retirement due to a workplace accident. He would say he never missed the bush but you could tell it was still in his blood. He loved the outdoors and lived for the annual moose hunting trips up north in the fall and salmon fishing at Beecher Bay in the summer in their boat Halfpint. In later years they discovered paradise in Malaque, Mexico often spending winters there. In summer they would enjoy spending time camping and fishing with close friends at Miller Creek. He was an active member of the Eagles since 1978.
Family and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at Mount View Cemetery at 11 a.m. on October 11th, with a tea to follow at the Eagles in Duncan.
