March 27, 1925 - November 19, 2022
In loving memory ~
It is with a heavy heart we announce the passing of Albert Malcom Brickwood on November 19th, at the age of 97. Albert was predeceased by his wife Lorna Brickwood, his daughter Lynne Fisher, and his two sons David and Timothy Brickwood. He is survived by his son Frank Brickwood, daughter Lisa (Mark) Olsen, 12 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.
Albert (Poppa) was born in Brandon, Manitoba on March 27th, 1925, one of seven children born to parents Charles and Amelia Brickwood. At an early age, he and his family moved to B.C. and settled in Vancouver. During his working career Poppa was a long-haul truck driver and a heavy-duty mechanic. He loved to tell stories of his adventures growing up in Vancouver and his experiences driving trucks. These stories were always followed by much laughter as he reminisced.
Poppa worked hard all his life and loved to work with his hands. As recently as this spring he removed a dent in the fender of his van, patched it over with fibre glass and epoxy, sanded the patch and spray painted the repair.
This he accomplished with limited mobility, stamina and eyesight. An amazing feat at 97!
Poppa was extremely generous and if he saw a need he was there to help and would give you the shirt off his back. He loved to spend time with family and friends and had a passion for dancing which he did into his 90's. Poppa also loved to play cards...unless he was losing, then not so much.
A celebration of life will take place in the Spring of 2023.
