Witnesses sought after SUV hits teen in White Rock

Police say 14-year-old suffered minor injuries and driver stayed at the scene

White Rock RCMP are looking for witnesses to an afternoon collision last week that left a 14-year-old boy with minor injuries.

Sgt. Joel Glen said Monday the teen was taken to hospital shortly after 4:30 p.m. June 22, after he was struck by a westbound, black SUV while crossing Thrift Avenue at Fir Street.

Glen said the driver, a 48-year-old Surrey man who was travelling with his son, remained at the scene, but exactly what happened is unclear.

“There were lots of people there, but nobody who actually saw anything,” Glen said.

Glen described the teen’s injuries as “some road rash, and just sore.” He was taken to hospital as a precaution, he said.

Anyone with information as to what took place is asked to call police at 778-593-3600.
