RCMP are looking for a person involved in an alleged hit and run in Chilliwack late Monday night.
Around 11:30 p.m. police responded to a report of a vehicle hitting a pedestrian in front of an apartment complex at the corner of Bole Avenue and Victor Street. Officers found a 50-year-old Chilliwack man, who was transported to hospital in a B.C. Air Ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.
One witness suggested the victim was a security guard for the complex, but this has not been confirmed by Chilliwack RCMP.
Within minutes police located the vehicle that allegedly hit him, abandoned in the apartment complex’s underground parking lot.
Front-line officers and members of the Lower Mainland District Integrated Police Dog Section (IPDS) searched for the driver while other units gathered evidence.
“Unfortunately the operator of the vehicle was not located during the search,” said RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Mike Rail. “Investigators are reaching out to the public for anyone who may have recorded or witnessed the circumstances surrounding the crash to contact us.”
The RCMP urges anyone with information to phone the police at 604-792-4611 or call Crime Stoppers (anonymously) at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
