UPDATE: Three people sustain serious injuries in crash outside Mission

RCMP believe alcohol was a factor in single-car collision on Hawkins Pickle Road in Dewdney

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in a crash outside of Mission on Tuesday night (March 19) that left three occupants with serious injuries, RCMP say.

First responders, including two helicopters, attended the collision at Bell Road and Hawkins Pickle Road at approximately 8:45 p.m.

A white SUV crashed into a tree at a high speed with four people involved, three of whom were trapped, according to a Mission RCMP news release. North Fraser Fire crews freed the three occupants trapped in the vehicle due to the extensive damage.

Three people were transported to hospital by BC Emergency Health Services and BC Air Ambulance Services with serious injuries.

While Mission RCMP say alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash, nothing is being ruled out.

CP Railway tracks were stopped after the crash to allow access for Emergency Services. Mission Traffic Services and the Integrated Collision Analysis Reconstruction Services (ICARS) also attended.

An investigation is ongoing and police are seeking witnesses and dash camera footage. Those with information are urged to contact Mission RCMP at 604-826-7161.
