Saanich Police are searching for a woman who robbed a Subway restaurant in Tuscany Village.

Police report a lone suspect entered the restaurant on the 1600 block of McKenzie Avenue shortly after 6:30 p.m. Friday, produced a weapon and demanded cash from the cashier. The suspect then fled the restaurant which had other customers inside with an undisclosed amount of cash.

“I can’t think of an incident in the past where we’ve had a (woman) produce a weapon in a robbery,” said Sgt. Steve Eassie.

Multiple police units attended the scene and surrounding area but could not locate the suspect who was last seen fleeing eastbound on McKenzie Avenue in the direction of the University of Victoria.

The suspect is described as a white female in her 20s, five-foot-three to five-foot-six, with a slim build, wearing a thick, dark-coloured double-breasted button-up jacket with a hood, dark coloured bag, dark pants and black oval glasses.

Saanich crime analysts are cross-referencing the suspect profile with other agencies from the Island and Mainland.

Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to contact the Saanich Police Department at 250-475-4321 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS(8477) and refer to Saanich Police file number: 15-15957.
