A man charged with first-degree murder back in 2022 has had a trial date set for Jan. 20, 2025, in Kelowna’s B.C. Supreme Court.
Wyne Zablan was charged with murder after a man was found dead in Okanagan Lake near the Shelter Bay Marina on July 29, 2022.
When the body was discovered, Kelowna RCMP Superintendent Kara Triance said, “There was a vehicle used to commit this crime.”
Zablan, who was 25 years old at the time of arrest, has remained in custody since.
The victim’s identity has not been made public, despite police positively identifying the man and notifying next of kin.
Back on July 30, 2022, RCMP asked for the public’s assistance in identifying the victim found in the waters of Okanagan Lake the day before. Police described the victim as a man of Asian ethnicity, between 20-40 years old and of average height.
The first-degree murder trial will be tried by a jury next year.
