Two individuals received court dates for Christmas after Salmon Arm RCMP responded to two incidents involving weapons.

On Dec. 19 at 10 a.m., a store employee caught a woman stealing about $350 in groceries and told her to stop. The woman then grabbed a wrench from her pocket and allegedly hit the employee several times in the leg with it before leaving the area.

Officers located the woman nearby and arrested her for assault with a weapon, seizing several weapon-like items from her. She was then released on a promise to appear at a future court date.

The following day, Dec. 20, at 11 p.m., a woman called to report that her husband was intoxicated, had a firearm and had threatened her adult son and that she heard shots fired in the garage of their home on Highway 97B.

“Multiple member attendance resulted in the man being arrested without incident, and a firearm seized,” a media report states.

Police held the man overnight to sober up, then released him the next day on numerous conditions with a future court date.
