FIR BEETLE MEETING

A group of concerned citizens met with the Canim Lake Band (CLB) timber operations manager John Kalmokoff and natural resource manager Don Dixon to discuss the Douglas-fir beetle infestation along Canim Lake.

Cariboo Regional District Area H Director Margo Wagner says the CLB will now plan its action in its timber supply area along South Canim, and will keep residents informed.

FIRE DEPT. RECOGNITIONS

Colleen Felker was presented a 25-year spousal pin by the Office of the Fire Commissioner in recognition of her support to her late husband and longtime Forest Grove Volunteer Fire Department (FGVFD) chief Bob Felker, at the Cariboo Regional District (CRD) annual Fire Chief’s Workshop banquet in Williams Lake on Oct. 22.

FGVFD volunteers Richard Bergen and Sheri McLean were also presented longtime service awards.

FEEDBACK REQUESTED

The BC Utilities Commission is asking for feedback on BC Hydro and FortisBC’s reports to the Province of British Columbia about the impacts of the two-tiered electricity rates.

Information on how to submit comments can be found on the Cariboo Regional District Facebook page at facebook.com/CaribooRegion.

The CRD directors will be submitting a comment expressing their disagreement with the two reports and their concerns about how customers are penalized under the two-tiered rate system.
