Val Gauvin has been named the president of the Terrace and District Chamber of Commerce, replacing Janice Shaben who held that position for four years.
Other changes to the chamber’s board were also made at its annual general meeting held May 20.
New directors include Shaun Bilodeau, Steven Smyth, Crystal Zaharchuck and Allen Kent while returning directors are Bert Husband, Lael McKeown and Loralie Thomson.
The vice president’s position remains vacant and the search continues to find someone to fill that slot.
“I look forward to working with the city to come up with ways we can help support businesses and also working with the Terrace Economic Development Authority and Kermode Tourism and any group in town that could use our support,” said Gauvin of her new two-year mandate as president.
The annual general meeting was also the last for chamber manager Carol Fielding who has retired.
She’s being replaced by Erika Magnuson-Ford who had been the chamber’s administrative assistant and who organized last month’s business expo, the chamber’s annual showcase of business and commerce.
Fielding was presented with a bouquet of flowers and gifts as a gesture of appreciation for her time with the chamber.
