A young man involved in a crash early Monday morning in Aldergrove has died of his injuries, the agency investigating the incident confirmed.
The victim was the passenger in a black Mazda, heading east on 16th Avenue, which collided with a semi truck at the intersection of 264th Street at about 12:20 a.m. on March 18.
The woman driving the car suffered minor injuries, and the truck driver was not hurt.
The Independent Investigations Office of B.C. (IIO) confirmed the young man’s death.
His name has not been officially released, but a local GoFundMe is raising money for a 20-year-old man who died in a collision that evening.
The IIO is investigating the crash because it took place shortly after a Langley RCMP officer tried to pull the Mazda over for a traffic stop.
The vehicle did not stop, and the collision took place shortly afterwards.
The IIO involves all deaths and serious injuries that follow interactions with police in B.C., including accidents.
