Langley Township council passed a development permit Monday to allow a redesign of the former Target store at the Willowbrook Shopping Centre.
Mall owner Bentall Kennedy asked to redevelop the vacant store, with new facades. The Toys R Us and SportCheck, already in the mall, will move into the space.
The redesign will include a new plant-covered fence and a new rainwater capture system. Rainwater will be diverted to landscaping around the complex.
The Langley Target was open for just over a year and a half, from May 2013 to January, 2015. Target’s rapid expansion was followed by an equally rapid fall as they failed to attract customers and filed for bankruptcy.
