Last month, May 10, a tractor trailer was at the centre of a single motor vehicle accident at the Paulson Bridge, confirmed Sgt. Jim Fenske of the Boundary Regional RCMP.
The trailer, a white Freightliner, had failed to negotiate the sharp corner onto the Paulson Bridge. The tractor and two trailer units flopped onto the driver side and skidded to a stop on the east end of the bridge. As a result of the crash, there was cedar planking all over the road and down the edge of the cliff.
Arrangements were made for a local contractor to secure and recover the spilled wood.
Six days later, Grand Forks RCMP, Search and Rescue from Grand Forks and Castlegar and Trail Fire Rescue responded to a male stranded on the rocks below the Paulson Bridge. Initially the male reported he was rock climbing but investigation by the RCMP revealed that the male was actually trying to retrieve lumber from the crash.
No criminal charges are being pursued at this point, Fenske said.
The site is now completely cleared.
