Knox Mountain Drive, up to the first lookout, is now open to vehicles. The upper portion of Knox Mountain Drive will remain closed to vehicles until it is re-evaluated for fire risk next week.

Dilworth Mountain Park is also reopen for public use. The road and park were closed earlier this month as the result of an extremely high fire hazard.

“The rain and cooler weather may not appeal to everyone, but we can all agree that our parks and natural areas needed it,” said Andrew Hunsberger, Urban Forest Health Technician. “Even though the risk of fire has decreased, we do still ask that park visitors continue to use caution while in the parks.”

While the provincial campfire ban has been lifted, residents and visitors are reminded that smoking is still prohibited in all natural areas.

Park users and park neighbours are asked to be vigilant. Anyone noticing smoke or fire in any park should immediately call *5-5-5-5, the BC Wildfire Management Branch or 9-1-1 to speak to the fire department.
