“We’re done being upset, we’re done being sad because and we want justice,” said mom Linda Cassel alongside about 30 people ahead of the walk to the courthouse and then to Polson Park for a candlelight vigil. “We want justice for our Gingey.”
Most wearing red in memory of the red-haired 28-year-old Ferguson, the crowd met behind People Place, in front of one of the homes that was investigated in the intital days of his disappearance.
RCMP say the investigation is continuing and have told Cassel that more warrants are being executed.
But she says it’s been too long and she wants justice for her son.
“We’re not going to stop until we get it and there’s nothig that’s gong to get in our way until the people responsible are behind bars,” she said as Ferguson’s siblings nodded alongside friends who came from Kelowna, Prince George, Abbotsford and Vancouver to take part in the march.
“They can spend the rest of their lives missing their family because we have to spent the rest of our lives missing our son, our brother, our uncle, our dad, our grandson, our friend.
“We’re taking back what they stole.”
Cassel admits that Ferguson had issues with addiction, but he came home to Vernon to get cleaned up, get help and lead a better life.
“The people that did this to him took that from him. He’ll never walk his daughter down the aisle, he’ll never see her graduate.”
