Surrey RCMP is investigating a high-speed car crash in a residential neighbourhood that has been making the rounds on several social media platforms.
RCMP confirmed they responded to a motor vehicle collision in the 7900-block of 124 Street around 4:20 p.m. on Saturday (April 27) in an email to Black Press Media.

The investigation determined that the driver of a Honda Civic did a U-turn from the southbound lane of 124 Street, entering the northbound lane of 124 Street, when it was struck by a Dodge Challenger. There was significant damage to both vehicles, RCMP confirmed.
Videos circulating on social media show the Challenger striking the Civic at a high rate of speed, causing the Civic to crash into a tree in one home’s front yard/driveway, with the Challenger apparently coming to a stop a few houses down, in another resident’s yard/driveway.

A woman and child who were travelling in the Honda were transported to hospital, as the child sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The adult male driver and passenger travelling in the Dodge Challenger did not sustain injuries, RCMP said.
“Impairment has been ruled out, speed and improper turning are believed to be contributing factors,” Surrey RCMP media relations Sgt. Tammy Lobb noted in the email.
The investigation is ongoing.
