Due to a very unfortunate and tragic family emergency from one of  performers, Vancouver Island MusicFest is cancelling the West Coast Gypsy Jazz Show set to hit Courtenay at the Filberg Centre on May 27.

The West Coast Gypsy Jazz Show was one of the Island Musicfest Year Round Concert Series shows.

“It’s a very sad and personal situation that I don’t feel at liberty to share further details on,” says MusicFest artistic director, Doug Cox. “Our plan to present this show as an annual event will continue with a show next year but for the time being, out of respect to our performer who can’t make it, we have decided the best thing to do is to regretfully cancel the show for this year.

“On a personal note, I’d like to add that obviously, performers are people and we sometimes forget what they give up to be on the road. Family comes first and we wish all the folks involved in producing this concert event all the best.”

All advance ticket sales were done through the MusicFest ticketing system on-line and refunds will be promptly issued.
