Central Okanagan School Board trustee Deb Butler will have the chance to keep working on several school-related issues close to her heart.

The Oyama resident and former Parent Advisory Council member was acclaimed as the winner of the school board trustee position for Lake Country with no other candidates stepping forward to challenge her.

It will be Butler’s second term on the school board and she says she’s happy to get the chance to continue the work the school board started.

“There is a lot of stuff that I started that I am absolutely committed to seeing come to fruition,” said Butler. “I love the work. I think it’s exciting to be a part of this great big thing that provides opportunities for all of our students. These are our stewards of the world for tomorrow and they all have different needs. I’m very proud of the energy an the money we put into programs for the kids that don’t always fit into the square box.”

Among the top priorities for Butler and the school district is a re-working of the boundaries of the catchment areas for the three Lake Country elementary schools which is currently under review with an increase in the number of elementary students living in Lake Country.
